Versioning solution

Hi All,

I thought I would share our plan/implementation of our development environment that we will use for UrbanSim.  Please feel free to share any comments.

After thinking about how we are going to run our development project we have decided to use a local Subversion server running on a dedicated Fedora Core 5 box.  We grabbed a P4 workstation that wasn't in use and will upgrade it to 3GB of memory next week.

I have installed Subversion and downloaded the nightly build (2006-11-01) and made this the trunk.  I intend to update this trunk on a regular basis from the official UrbanSim nightly build. (obviously it would be great if I could automate this)

I have instructed our team of developers working on UrbanSim to create a branch.  We will then merge changes in the trunk back into the branch or alternatively post our changes as patch files back to Paul/David.  We are currently thinking about how our MySQL GUI (we use SQLyog) can be used to track changes in the database.

Hopefully this will allow us to contribute code back to the project for the greater good and provide our own central repository for managing our small (and enthusiastic) team.

Cheers,
