We're still 'considering' this, as in doing research on it. Previously
we have used parcel data and collapsed it into grid cells - see the
report we prepared for the Puget Sound Regional Council for details on
the process: http://www.urbansim.org/projects/psrc/index.shtml
We are now doing some preliminary work to test models at the parcel
level or aggregations of parcels into submarkets or neighborhoods or
zones. When we have some interesting results from this we will post
papers on it.

The development model currently only places new development projects in
a cell. It isn't demolishing anything, since we have not previously had
good data on demolitions and conversions. If someone has interesting
data for this, please let me know, as we would like to do some research
on this topic.

Some other users (or potential users) may have similar data
limitations. We are interested in having tools to synthesize
micro-level data from marginals, and will be putting some effort into
developing a suite of synthesis tools over the coming year. If anyone
has some skills, algorithms, or suggestions along this line, they would
be welcome.
