Meeting Notes for Nathalie Picard Visit Julu 22-30, 2011

Objectives for Week:

  • SustainCity? Planning

    • Identify and prioritize software development and econometric methods to be implemented to address modeling needs
      • Sequential simulation and estimation of nested logit up to an arbitrary number of levels
      • Does a model dependency approach work for this? (model to pre-run)
        • Decision to move, geographic level, tenure, building type
        • May eventually need a 'minimum distance estimator' approach to impose consistency between 'stay' branch and move
      • Sampling: importance sampling - 1) do we allow sampling with replacement; if not, 2) how to correct for bias in simulation

    • Address specific problems that have arisen in the Paris application of UrbanSim?
      • In simulation, can we include all the alternatives (assuming enough memory)

  • Planning for research papers
    • Interaction of residence and workplace choices (maybe beyond SustainCity?)

  • Long-term planning for research and application (e.g. Grand Paris project)

    • Tenure choice of building?
