Our implementation is a parcel-based model for the city of San Francisco, characterized by:
  • About 150,000 parcels in San Francisco; mostly already developed land on 47 square miles.
  • 600,000 jobs, 340,000 households, 800,000 residents
  • ~1,000 Travel Analysis Zones
  • A business location choice model, simulating location choice at the unit of analysis of the business establishment. Employees are attached to the business.
We are working on integrating UrbanSim with SFCTA's activity-based travel model, and have had successful prototype-runs.

We're still in the final validation stages, but the model is up and working (read: matching control totals) and we're kicking the tires. We are, however, still struggling to get accurate real estate price representations on the rent and lease side. Source suggestions are welcome.

We are actively trying to come up with a meaningful set of validation benchmarks for the model. Suggestions are welcome here, too.
